Let us honour those who have gone before us, let us celebrate the harvest and prepare for the long winter ahead.

Learn from nature from which we have grown disconnected and know that it is ok to slow down at this time, hibernate if you need to.
Go inward and reflect. Preparation and preservation for the long nights that await us as winter starts to cover the land in its blanket.
It won't be long until the shoots start appearing and new growth peeks through, but for now let us quieten and enjoy warm fires, hot stews and toasty toes.

Traditionally it was a festival of the Tailteann Games birthed by Tailtiu foster Mother of Lugh, which took place on the hill of Tara where she is said to be buried under the mound of hostages.

Lughnasadh, named after her son, Lugh, serves as a reminder of the love, sweat and tears that Tailtiu poured into the lands of Ireland. It serves as a reminder of the cycle of life, of death and rebirth, endings and beginnings.

Its a time of gratitude, reflection and hope and a symbol of connection with the earth and land that bears us food and life.

The Tailteann Games date back before the Olympics and although they have died out it’s no coincidence that the Galway races are held this time every year.
